This weekend I had the pleasure of meeting another family out at Swarthmore College (quickly becoming one of my favorite sites to shoot!) Meet Miss O....isn't she adorable? She was just precious...and on the move! She had places to go and we were all along for the ride! Not camera shy at all, Miss O and I traded sticks, leaves, and giggles. Mom and dad, it was lovely to meet you all...enjoy your speak-peeks!

This week, the lovely miss A and her beautiful family came out to meet me for some pre-baby pics. A. always has the girls cracking up, and for this session she did not disappoint! I was rolling by the end of our photo shoot, and she was a fantastic sport! While she wouldn't do a handstand for me (I don't know why), she did lay in the freezing cold grass for some very cool 'soccer mom' shots, and she humored me with the 'Bump' sign that I thought would be a pretty fun shot. Thanks guys, I had a blast with you, and I can't wait to meet your new little tot soon!

This was our third session together, and every time I see her, she just gets more and more beautiful. Look at those eyes! Saturday morning I awoke to the most beautiful day! Sun shining through perfectly placed clouds, a slight chill in the air signifying the beginning of my favorite season, and another session with the adorable Miss M and her family. Little M was in such a fantastic mood and she was so very expressive! It is so amazing to see her standing and chatting these days after her first photo shoot (before this blog!)...time flies, doesn't it?

Little Sack of Sugar...

A few weeks ago, beautiful Little S. was born into this world and I became a proud aunt! As we all huddled around her, I could not help but reminisce about the wonder and joy of becoming a new parent...the newness of it all....the tiny curled up fists and teensy toes, the adorable yawns and irresistible coos. 'Can this perfect gift really be all mine?'

My brother and sister-in-law are already the most amazing parents, and we all just feel so lucky to have this precious new member in our family. So Sweet S, welcome to this world, and J&C congratulations. I love you guys!!

From the moment I arrived, I knew I would have a great time at this shoot. In celebration of Miss K's birthday, her friends gathered and the laughter never stopped! First the babies ate cake and opened presents, and then we all took a trip out to Linvilla Orchards to see the pumpkins and show off 3 adorable babies in costume! A lion, a puppy, and a turtle were the perfect subjects, and we all just had a fantastic time watching these three explore. Thanks so much everyone for letting me come along and help celebrate! With a giggle and a twirl, little L. was off doing her 'ballerina jumps' through the field as the beautiful afternoon sun was setting. Sweet little S. was cradled in her gorgeous mommy's arms as I was led by hand through another adventure-filled photo shoot! While we had a few crazy moments, we also had some incredibly serene ones as well. I could tell that they were instant best-friends when these two sisters curled up together and laughed, snuggled and enjoyed each other so much! Thank you for letting me spend the afternoon with you ladies; I had a ball...

Yes, that is a Weimaraner behind the wheel of this convertible and a Vizsla as a copilot! This weekend I had a great time with H & X and their loving parents. These pups hopped right into the car in anticipation for a ride, so we thought it would be fun to document them having a good time. H. settled right into the driver's seat and patiently awaited the keys to the ignition to be handed to him, while X. wagged her tail and got ready to roll! One of my favorite things in life is to witness the love in the relationships between pets and their people, and this family was a perfect example of that love. Thank you for having me out on a beautiful morning to meet your sweet puppies....enjoy your sneak-peek!

Wow. Thank you all who have been so supportive and wonderful this year, and who have recommended me to friends and family members. This year has been amazing and I have been so lucky to have such fantastic clients.

I met yet another amazing couple and their two beautiful children this weekend and had a great time capturing their little family! We met at Washington Square Park: two babies with blonde curls and bright blue eyes and the sunniest personalities ever. As it turns out, our session date was also dad's 35th b-day (although he could easily pass as 27) so P, I hope you had a fabulous day!

This weekend I got to return to my roots...the photography of a furry little ball of play and love: the dog. I had such a fantastic time with little Strider and his mommy, A. Strider was so excited to run and play with his favorite star (which I almost pocketed and brought home to my pup)! The afternoon was perfect, and Strider's modeling career has officially begun...just look at this little face!

This year I am offering mini-sessions for clients interested in doing portraits for the holidays. Mini-sessions will be available on two dates:
Saturday, October 11 (Location in Main-Line Area)
Sunday, October 19 (Location in Philadelphia)

These limited availability sessions will be half an hour long, and will include 10-12 proofs to choose from for cards, gift portraits and more. There are a very limited number of openings for mini-sessions, so please contact me to book your spot!

I can only imagine how much fun it is to grow up with such a large family! Ms. J. called me and asked me as a last-minute request to photograph herself and her children (5+pup) on the evening before her oldest son moved overseas. Of course I was happy to oblige, and we had a great time. As the sun set on our beautiful afternoon, the whole family joked and really enjoyed each other, and it was clear to me just how much they all loved one another. I cannot believe the way time flies. One minute you are holding your baby's head for them, the next, they are letting go of your hand for the first time as they take a step on their own. It is an awesome and powerful thing, to be a mommy, and I can honestly say I wouldn't trade a second of it for the world. As Evan's big day approaches, we decided to take him out and get some photos of his sweet smiles and shining eyes. This little guy will be walking (and/or running) soon, so we thought it would be great to catch these pics while we could still catch him!

One of my favorite things about being a photographer for families is the friendships that I make along the way. I think I must meet the kindest people in my line of work and I have such a great time meeting new families and their sweet babies! This week's session was no exception. I had a fantastic time meeting little miss M and her parents. After chatting with them for about 10 minutes, I felt like I had known them for years and I was just thrilled to be capturing some special moments of their precious girl shortly after her first birthday!

Dear Cody...

Today one of my very first clients passed away...the dog of a dear friend, Sweet Cody. He was a sweet, soulful pup that was so camera-shy and I will never forget him. My condolences to Cody's loving family....he will be missed, and I know he was so cared for. Thank you for rescuing this adorable boy and giving him an amazing home filled with love and warmth all these years...hugs to you all.

I got to spend yesterday afternoon with the sweetest family yesterday! Baby Nate, the star of the show was absolutely adorable. At 2.5 weeks, he has precious curls on his crown that reminded us of super-man, so I have dubbed him 'super baby'! (Plus, this little guy can kick!)

I had the pleasure of meeting this sweet baby girl this weekend along with her super cool mom and dad. Their home was amazing...warm and cozy, and built in the 1770's! Madison was such a sweetheart and we had fun coaxing smiles out of her adorable little face.

Okay, if you haven't stopped by the Regency cafe, go right now. I'm not kidding; this place is UNBELIEVABLE. First of all, the coffee is top-notch (and for you non-coffee drinkers out there like my hubby: the cocoa, tea and italian sodas are geat too)!

I stopped by there yesterday to eat a nice brunch, and I am still dreaming about the amazing handcrafted pastry I ate! Chris and his wife Marcy have created an absolute jewel just outside of the city in Lansdowne, PA, complete with delicious food, coffee, great customer service, and the perfect vibe. They even have live music nights and talented local artists displaying their works each month.

Last weekend I had the privilege of photographing the gorgeous Miss Taylor! We had so much fun playing in the mud, and she was the ultimate princess.

Taylor: "Mommy, I need a bow!"
Mom: "You have one here."
Taylor: "It has to be GOLD!"

We didn't let the mud stop us from stomping in puddles and playing chase (although she didn't have to try too hard to catch me....phew)! Later we had a tea party and she made the best "soup"...a very nice hostess!

Today (well, technically yesterday) I had the absolute privilege of holding a newborn. There is just nothing like that little warm bundle of perfection in your arms, is there?

Sweet, gorgeous Miss Luka made her way into the world at 7lbs, 15 ounces and was greeted with open arms (many, many arms) on the morning of MY birthday! Her brothers, Atti & Eli, were by her side throughout the entire photo shoot and wanted to be near their newest pack member at all times!

Last night we had a snow storm and when we woke up, there were several inches on the ground for us to kick around and play in. Fairmount may just be the warmest neighborhood in Philadelphia. I was walking around getting ready for a shoot and I was greeted by a half a dozen strangers in a span of about 10 minutes. Unbelievably friendly people in this neck of the woods, I tell ya. Mike was no exception. He was walking his sweet girl, Bella, on a cold and sunny morning in the city. He wished me luck with my stranger project, too....I don't think I will have a problem completing it if I keep coming out to Fairmount!

Oh what an amazing city! I woke up at 4:45 am on Monday to catch a train into the greatest city in the world...New York City. I have to admit, I miss it sometimes. It was so nice to come up for a short visit.

There, I got to meet Little Anthony, Princess Jackie, and their gorgeous mommy, Caryl. Their apartment was just beautiful, and they were so much fun to work with! Here is your little preview...more to come!

Jack is a lucky little guy, rescued by a very kind neighbor at Main Line Animal Rescue. He is a 6 year old Westie-Cairn Terrier mix with a scruffy little face, and he took a little pause from his morning walk to let me grab his mugshot. What a sweetie!

Yesterday was insanely warm and humid, so what better way to recharge than a steamy stroll around my town? Um...I can't think of anything better (aside from sitting in my hammock with a pint of chocolate ice cream and a good book).

#4&5/100: On my walk, I decided that a hot latte was exactly what I needed on a hot day (don't question me), so I stopped into the Bryn Mawr theater coffee shop, "Milk Boy" for my dose of caffeine.

#4: Colin was a sport and allowed me to photograph him at work as he crafted a much needed cup of latte-goodness. (One of my favorite people in the world shares this name--BONUS!)

His co-worker also paused his activities for about 3 seconds after a mini-break...long enough for me to catch his quirky smirk. Hooray for espresso!

Stranger #3/100: This is Emmett. We met while Evan and I were strolling down my street yesterday afternoon. It turns out Emmett is a neighbor of mine and he was also interested in photography for a while. Now he is thinking of starting his own business, a "green" cleaning business where he and his employees use natural products in people's homes/businesses, rather than harsh chemicals. What a fabulous idea!

Okay, so today I brought my camera into Home Depot....Yes, I know I am obsessed. People looked at me like I was insane while I was snapping pictures of Evan by the HUGE 'Bounty' paper towel display. (Why is that wierd?)

Anyway, I had fun looking at all of the great tools and gadgets. By the way, all of you artists out there: when you are in a design slump, go to your local hardware store! There is just so much eye candy there...plenty of inspiration. So in addition to lingering entirely too long in the paint section, I found another stranger to photograph.

#2/100: Meet James! He is a very cool, hip cat. (Can I still say "hip"?) James is also a photography buff, so we had a good chat about cameras. We also had a nice laugh at Evan because he had fallen asleep in the cart while I was wheeling him around. Shhhh...the little prince sleeps...

Okay, so today I finally decided to get brave and accept a new challenge: 100 strangers. I got the idea from this very cool 'flickr' group and decided to run with it : (http://www.flickr.com/groups/100strangers).

The idea is to break out and try new things with my photography and also to tell the story of the person I met with one photo. Here is my stranger #1. She was a very sweet and shy college girl at Swarthmore who had, apparently, done a project similar to this in one of her classes recently! How'd I do? More to come!

This weekend I had the privilege of photographing two incredibly cute babies plus a Mini-Husky...what a treat!

Morgan and Liam allowed me to spend time with them on Saturday morning, and even tolerated my silly noises and coversation long enough for me to snag some adorable photos. Here's a tiny preview...

Little Vance was a real trooper, and hammed it up for me in the incredibly chilly weather! We had so much fun wandering around at the UPenn campus and warmed up with some tasty coffee afterwards. Happy B-Day Jenni!

It's still cold....

When I woke up this morning, the reality of winter started to sink in and I needed serious heat therapy. So what could be better than a nice hot cup of tea?

Well, hot chocolate (or anything chocloate for that matter), but you get the idea. So I pulled out my pretty red teapot and my mismatched teacups and brewed an apple/berry combo. Just me, my babies and a nice cup of tea...pure bliss! Despite the gloomy weather, it is bound to be a good day....

It's almost freezing today (39 degrees), and for this Texas girl, that is close enough to count! I have a couple of photo shoots lined up for this weekend and am secretly hoping for snow for the second shoot. Growing up in central Texas, I saw snow twice my entire childhood. I absolutely love to see children playing in the snow, and would be truly excited to get a chance to document this adorable boy building his first snowman with his parents this weekend!

So, what does one do when one does not feel like taking a walk outside for fear of freezing her toes (or baby's nose) off? One cranks up the heat in the house and snaps photos of one's precious babies indoors, of course! Here are a couple of snapshots of my sweeties playing on my new "heart-day" rug...Enjoy!

New Beginnings 2008

My first blog entry...where to begin?

Well, I suppose it's appropriate to bid adieu to 2007. I had quite a year! Early on, my husband and I "officially" moved into our new home. Built in 1927, it has some great architectural details, and also some renovating challenges! I absolutely love my new home, particularly the dining room, and we have already made so many memories here in Pennsylvania.

Many, many, many cartons of chocolate ice cream later, we celebrated the birth of our son, Evan. He weighed in at 7lbs, 11 oz. and is absolutely delicious (but oddly doesn't taste like chocolate ice cream at all). I'm sure you will get to know him through volumes of photographs on my blog!

My baby girl, Kia, a sweet and fluffy ball of love inspired me to start my very own business....photography. She is a young 11 (almost 12) year old Bischon with a new best friend...Evan! You will likely get to know her through photos here too!

So what is happenning in the new year?

Well, I am pouring myself completely into my business this year, with the launch of my new website! http://www.buphotography.com/ (Will be premiering very soon!) There,you will find my galleries, work details, contact info, and clients will even be able to view their own photos from our sessions on this site.

Also, we are expecting another sibling for Evan in 2008....just teasing! I am looking forward to attending a few professional conferences and seminars and also spending some time in Michigan, Texas, and possibly Florida.
